St. Alban’s Cemetery and Memorial Garden
St. Alban’s Church is the owner of the land upon which the Cemetery and Memorial Garden is located. Any present member of the Parish who is a communicant in good standing is entitled to purchase interment rights for themselves and their family.
It is intended that the cemetery be self-supporting and not a burden upon the Parish. All interment rights are to be sold for cash and each must be paid for in full at the time of delivery of certificate of interment. The Rector is responsible for discussing the fees with those desiring services. Grave plots may be reserved through the church office.
Information About Plots, the Memorial Garden & Care
Plots for cremains measure approximately 3’ x 1.5’ and may be used to intern the cremains of one person only. Cremains plots cost three hundred dollars each.
Conventional burial plots measure approximately 9’ x 4’ and may be used for the burial of one person in a casket or for the burial of two cremains. The cost of conventional plots is four hundred dollars if used for casket burial and six hundred dollars if used for the burial of two cremains.
For caskets, concrete or metal vaults should be used. If a vault is not used, an additional charge shall be imposed for future maintenance of that particular lot site. All granite headstone bases shall be mounted flush with the ground for a neat appearance and to facilitate mowing and care of the cemetery grounds. Headstones with death dates should be installed within six months of burial.
No enclosures of any kind, such as a fence, coping, hedge or ditch shall be permitted around any grave(s). Grave mounds will not be allowed and no lot shall be raised above the established grade. No improvements of any kind may be made without approval of the Cemetery Committee. No wooden, stone, metal bench or chair, or any type trellis, shall be permitted or be brought upon the grounds.
The Cemetery Committee reserves the right to remove any flowers when they have become unsightly. Burial flowers should be removed within thirty days of the funeral. St. Alban’s Cemetery is not a perpetual care cemetery. The St. Alban’s Cemetery Committee maintains the cemetery lawn and all other maintenance with funds accumulated from plot sales and individual donations. We maintain a cemetery fund which is used for routine maintenance, and for capital improvements such as additional landscaping, benches, and the like.
The Memorial Garden is established to provide a consecrated area available for the scattering of human cremated remains (cremains). The Garden Area is defined as the planted garden beds within the Memorial Garden, and does not include the Burial Area. The cost to scatter the cremains is two hundred dollars.
Each person interred in the St. Alban's Memorial Garden is entitled to have their name engraved on the Memorial Garden plaque in the church. The inscription shall consist of the name of the deceased, the date of birth and the date of death.
The burial of cremains does not require a professional funeral director or grave digger. However, the family should coordinate the burial arrangements with the Rector or in his absence, the Senior Warden. Cremains shall be buried a minimum of 12” deep. No special containers are required for cremains burial. However, biodegradable containers should be considered.
No headstones, permanent decorations or plants of any sort can be placed in the Memorial Garden and no artificial flowers are allowed in the Memorial Garden area.
